   Some options:

RealVNC as suggested. Quite good, but I think it's not being advanced very
much any more.

TightVNC - A pretty active group of folks using it and a reasonably
responsive user list. My favorite.

krfb - part of KDE 3.1. Accepts reservations, etc., and is based on
RealVNC/TightVNC I believe. It's certainly compatible.

x0rfbserver - if you want access to a remote Linux desktop, like PCAnywhere
give you access to a remote Windows desktop, this is the only solution I
know of.

   Thankfully their servers and viewers are all compatible with each other,
so you can mix and match as you need. My dad runs x0rfbserver when he wants
me to demonstrate to him how to run his new Linux box. I can do that from
here in the office running the TightVNC viewer on a Windows XP machine.

   Like Sun said - "The network *is* the computer". ;-)
