OK, I have a problem.
I have one version of a program I installed via a rpm. (VERSION1)
I have a (later) version of the same program, where I have downloaded
the source and compiled it myself. (VERSION2)
I have a third rpm (package 3) that depends on VERSION 2 being
installed. But since its an rpm, it refused to install because VERSION
1 is the version reported by rpm.
Even if I remove VERSION 1 from rpm, I still get a dependency failure,
of course.
(Yes, I know I can use --nodeps, but I would actually *like* to have
some dependency checking happen... package 3 relies on more than just
VERSION2)
So, how can I install VERSION2 into the rpm database when I don't have a
rpm?
