Re: Can't mount cdrom

Make sure the mount point "/mnt/cdrom" exists. If not, create it. "/dev/cdrom" is usually a link to a device, i.e if the cdrom is an ide device then make sure /dev/cdrom points to a device such as "/dev/hdx". If the above check okay try mounting from the command line via "# mount -t is09660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom" and see if the device mounts okay. If that works then you're in business. Make sure your fstab file is correct and you should be all set.

I have RH8.0, which has X-CD-ROAST (ver0.98alpha9) as a CD burner. I
used it one time to create a data CD and it worked OK except somehow it
took the /dev/cdrom line out of the fstab file. Now I can't get any CD
to load in the drive.

If I do a mount /mnt/cdrom command (as root) I get the error:

mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom does not exist

Also, when I boot up, I get the line

updating /etc/fstab cannot stat /dev/cdrom: no such file or directory
[failed]

I edited the fstab file and put the correct cdrom line back, but that didn't help.

The line is (some spaces deleted to fit on one line in this message)

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
