It would appear that you have a thorough understanding
of how Linux networking works and the only suggestions
would be is to read the documentation here:
http://www.redhat.com, search xdsl (it covers all
DSL),the getting online and Network Configuration
section of RH Official Linux Customization Guide.
Internet Druid is your tool. Some DSL providers
require that your system obtain a IP address through
DHCP through an Ethernet card. To configure this type
of connection, start Internet Druid, select Ethernet
Connection, and select DHCP on the Configure Network
Settings screen. Additionally,some DSL providers
require you to configure a PPPoE (Point-to-Point
Protocol over Ethernet) connection with an Ethernet
card. To configure this type of connection, start
Internet Druid, select xDSL Connection, and follow the
steps in the wizard. If you must supply a username and
password to connect, you are probably using PPPoE. Ask
your DSL provider which method you should use. :)
