Re: linux-W networks

Hi,

I'm a newbie, now a week old, but I was able to get the samba server up and running.  With that done, I was able to find my Linux machine from the windows machines.

I used an O'Reilly book, Using Samba to get it configured.  I find the man and info stuff just a bit unreadable, but the info is in there.

Basically I did the following things:  In the global section I identified the workgroup/Domain which my windows machines were in, set encrypt password to yes, added to Linux my windows user id with windows password, set up the smbpasswd with the windows user and password.  That got my machine recognized.  Then I added some disk shares to make the some of Linux directory visible to me (my shared data vfat partition).

I am sure there are others much more knowledgeable out there that could offer both of us some more advice.  I'm always in the market for good advice.

Help !
I have two machines one running redhat linux 7.3 with a 56k modem the second runing W98SE.
I can ping both machines from both sides. However the W98 can't see the linux server. Any idea of what happens ?
How could I share my internet connection ?
