I suggest you download the ISO files, which are disk images. From these, you can burn your own CDs to install from. If you have a CDRW, this is the best way to go.

As far as where/how to install on your hard drive, I'd suggest reading the on-line "getting started" and "installation guide" manuals to get a better understanding, because there are several ways to do this.

if i download a source code(not RPM package) for some software and i want to installed using configure, make and make install.
In what folder do the software get installed? and what if i want to removed how can i do that?
for example in windows most of the software get installed under program files and you could remove it using add and remove from control panal.
