I suggest you download the ISO files, which are disk images.  From these, 
you can burn your own CDs to install from.  If you have a CDRW, this is the 
best way to go.

As far as where/how to install on your hard drive, I'd suggest reading the 
on-line "getting started" and "installation guide" manuals to get a better 
understanding, because there are several ways to do this.
