This is the part that confuses me. Instead of 0.0.0.0,
it is th IP of my adapter on every windows and unix
machine I checked on. The way I see it is for all
packets to my internal network (10.3.1.0) send it to
10.3.1.23 (my adapter)

That is right. 10.3.1.254 is my external gateway. My
problem is that I cannot even ping any machine in my
Internal network far less the Internet. It is almost
as if my PC is not connected to the network. But when
I boot into WIn98 on the same machine, ergo,
everything is right with the world. I can ping all the
internal machines and even surf the Internet.
