Hmm.  I looked it up in the modem database

http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/pcmcia_list.html

and it's reported to be a real modem.  Try this (as root):

 cd /var/log
 fgrep cardmgr messages

You are interested in the last bit of stuff that's reported.  If the
card manager finds the modem, it will report it and associate it with
a port, ttyS<something>.

Then try

minicom -s

and set it up for that port.  Then, as your mere mortal self, you can
run minicom and see if entering "at" gets an "OK".
