RE: RedHat 8.0 refusing to boot



Turns out, the parameters entered in the graphical boot window are ignored
but when entering them at the boot prompt from a floppy, the commands work.

Specifically boot:linux pci=biosirq ide=nodma

You mean from the first CD?

Well, hmmmmm.  That is usually indicative of some IRQ battle in the
BIOS.  Just as a check, can you get into the BIOS of the machine (hit
the DEL key or whatever) and verify that you don't have the OS set to
Plug and Play (PNP)?  That may be the cause.

If that doesn't help, try doing "linux single" at the "boot:" prompt and
see if the system comes up in single user mode.
