RedHat 7.3 install problems (CDROM related)

I am trying to install RH Linux 7.3 on a Compaq
Presario 5441 (AMD 650 MHz).

Here's what I am doing: After booting off a 3.5" disk,
I get the <Boot:> prompt (btw, it detects everything
on my system including the CDROM drive). At the
prompt, I hit return on the keyboard, check off the
language preference options, and I am greeted with a
dialog box that asks me to insert the "Linux CD".

I insert CD#1, but am faced with the response "Linux
CD not found. I've tried all 3 CDs with the same
result. I've switched CDROMs drives (swapping from
another computer) and result is the same. So the
problem is not with the CDROM drive.

TO make things especially interesting, here's some
more background. This computer used to run Windows 98.
I initially booted the computer with the Linux boot
disc, and it took me through a partition journey, and
I actually successfully installed EVERYTHING off
Redhat CD#1. At this point, I was asked to insert
CD#2. Precisely then, my SO inadvertently turned off
the computer (don't even ask). I figured it was no big
deal, and started all over BUT here I am.

I suppose it is always possible that I miraculously
developed a problem with my IDE cable or motherboard
precisely. But that's too remote....

Thanks a million for any pointers. I'm going nuts here.
