This is really stupid, but I can't seem to stop MySQL. The mysqld daemon
is running as is safe_mysqld.
Issuing mysqld from the command line gets me "bash: mysqld: command not
found" even when I am in the directory /usr/libexec where mysqld is. man
mysqld nor man safe_mysqld show much in the way of that info, and looking
at the /usr/share/doc stuff gets me a big document with lots of words stop
and start, but I can't seem to find "to stop mysql do this: " type of thing.
I'm probably overlooking it, and according to murphy's law I'll find it as
I send this, but instead of wasting more time, I'll just admit my ignorance
and ask.
How do you stop mysql?
How do you start mysql?
How do you get mysql to re-read its config file (a restart type of thing)?
