Otto,
I understand, and I completely agree. I am ABSOLUTELY sure that in
this case this instruction caused NO problems. We new it was a Mandrake
install. The Madrake installer really only does the standard stuff, ext2
or ext3 and possibly reiserfs. Using the mount command without any
instructions will certainly work for those types of file systems, as fas
as I know.
I'm sure you caused no problems, and as you say, we know there was a
problem. I had a problem like this with Partition Magic a few years ago
on an NT system I was setting up at work. I personally think the disk
partitioning stuff in System Commander works better, but it's not
without it's problems too. Just yesterday morning I tried to add a
Windows install to my Redhat/Mandrake/Gentoo box. SC7 renumbered my
partitions. Luckily it did not change the Mandrake partition numbering,
so I was able to get grub working there, and then from there get Redhat
and Gentoo booting. Just goes to show there are many potential problems.
Anyway, I want Albert to know that you caused no problems for him, at
least in my opinion.
Cheers,
Mark
