Hi,
Probably because your able to fit the programs you are using so far
within 184MB. My machines with no 3D Acceleration only use about 40MB
for a simple, fluxbox-based, installation up and running X.
If you continue to start more and more programs there presumably must
be a point where swap gets used or the machine tells you it cannot start
the program. (Or it crashes!) ;-)
Send a copy of your /etc/fstab file, and maybe something like cat
/proc/meminfo and we can take a look. Send along whatever else seems
meaningful.
