hey would like to
get your opinions on the following matter.
1. i just got me red hat 9
cds by downloading the image files from the web and burning em as image files
onto the cd. anyway i booted up to the cd and it all worked out. press enter at
the boot prompt and they asked for the language. chose english and [next] chose
me keyboard langage and [next] when it came to media where all me linux files
are stored, i chose cd-rom(local) and an error msg came out saying "the red hat
linux cd could not be found in the cd rom drive. please press ..." something
along that line. trouble is me cd was always inside! cuz i booted from the cd? i
came across this qn in other forums too but so far no one has the answer. please
help if possible.
2. at the boot prompt, when i try other commands like
linux mediacheck, is it suppose to launch the installation proggie by asking u
to choose the language? or is it supposed to prompt you with something else.
when ever i type in linux mediacheck at teh boot prompt, it runs as though i
chose normal install. like no checking or wadsoever. tried it with other
arguements but still the same. something wrong with me cd?
general info:
i am using windows xp and used partition magic pro to create 2 partitions for
linux. both are put after the primary c: partition. next is the linux partition
which is called LinuxExt2 and the next one is the swap partition which is called
LinuxSwap. in my computer however, i only see the primary c partition. this is
correct right? is there anything i should do after creating the partitions and
applying the changes to install red hat properly? please guide. i appreciate any
help.
thanks a bunch !
