How? I use the 'linux mediacheck' boot mode of the install CD... I really
never needed to do a MD5SUM before. What should I read (man pages). What
tools should I use for this... how does a MD5SUM check work?

Never happend to me. But always I record a CD y leave my PC alone and go to
my bed to watch TV... It's better than looking at a blue progress bar. :-P
