Grub error after RH9 Install

After installing RH9, which works fine, RH8 fails to
boot with this msg: "Error 13: Invalid or unsupported
executable format" followed by "Press any key to
continue". 

I didn't find any help at redhat.com or
rhn.redhat.com.

RH8 does boot successfully from its boot floppy.

Any suggestions?
