Re: cd/dvd in rh9

What happens if you connect the speakers directly on the cd ?
( In the front panel of the CD there should be an audio output
with a volume control beside it , lower enough the volume and try )
Since you say you here static , load the sound mixer and check the 
volumes , they might be too high
Also there is another thing , have you checked that the connection
between the cdrom drive and the soundcard is ok ?
