Oh yes. That works of course. And that's what I have
done with this laptop. UNfortunately, soon I will have
a bunch of PCs running linux and I dont want to create
reservations and static records on the DNS server. As
a network wide solution I don't think it is a good
idea.

That's what I thought, but Rick has a different view.
I guess I need to do some fundamental reading on the
working of DHCP.
