you likely have some sort of software modem, check out 
www.linuxant.com/drivers for connexant chipset modems also look on the 
linmodems page (i think it is www.linmodems.org). there are drivers for 
lucent modems on the web, but i havent been able to find the actual drivers 
for those yet.
