I'm running RedHat 8.0 with a dial-up connection. Is there some widget
I could put on the panel that indicates if my modem is active? The
Network Device Control applet takes up too much desktop space and
doesn't miniaturize to anything useful.
Right click on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. In the pop-up
menu that appears, select "Add to panel->Internet->Modem Lights". This
will put a little applet on the menu bar.
To move it around on the menu bar, right-click on the applet and select
"Move". Slide the applet to where you want it, then left click it and
it'll stick where you put it.
This is a terrific list! I learn new Linux lore every day just by
browsing the latest messages.
