Hi.
I have heard that DHCP can cause many delays at boot time because it looks for a DHCP server to assign an IP address to the machine.
Check the network setup to see wether the server is set properly.
Good luck.

Hi ALL
I have installed RH9 on my machine and noticed that it now takes quite some
time to boot up my machine from power on or rebbot.
It is taking almost 5 minutes to start and I noticed the following sequences
or modules were taking a lot longer than normal to start during boot up.
1. starting sm_client (pauses for about 30 seconds)
2. starting sendmail (as above)
3. starting crond (as above)
4. starting cups (as above)
5. starting cana server
could you please tell me what the canna server is please because it also
tells me when i am shutting down that this module cannot be stopped because
the server is being run by another machine - is this common would this refer
to my isp? as a am using broadband cable modem.
I would also like to know what server packages I need to install on my
machine as I would like to run my machine as the server for our home
network. I noticed that whilst installing RH9 there was an option to choose
servers such as FTP etc, do any of these packages need to be installed?
Regards Kenneth Potter.
