I had a modem working in another machine using both KPPP and the active
using the Network Configuration menu.
I am writing instructions for GUI end users.
I put the modem in another machine and tried to duplicate the actions.
KPPP works fine, getting ip address and all appropriate info. When I try to
active the same device from the Network Configuration tab, it never contacts
the mode, but says it is active.
Difference I see are that KPPP says I am connected through /dev/modem.
The Network configuration says /dev/ttyS4 and on the device screen says it
is modem0.
I have never used dialup for this type of network, and I am having trouble
finding the correct configuration files to help me debug.
What files should I look at and/or forward, and is there a way to do this in
the KDE GUI?
John
