Dears,
Dear fellow Red Hat addicts,
Yesterday, there was a nice thread on this list about "hdparm".
I checked it out: hdparm -Tt /dev/hda
It reports a speed of roughly 58 MB/S, without even changing any settings!
Would this mean the kernel, by default, optimizes the hard disk's parameters nowadays? I can hardly imagine that this speed may be increased further on.
Since there are some rather intimidating warnings in the man, I don't thrust fooling around with it.
I would very much appreciate reading about other list members' experiences.
Albert
