I've installed linux before without problems, but this time is like pulling
out
teeth ... I'm dual-booting the system with XP and RH9.0which does not seem
to be a
problem. When I go to install linux, it hangs on "loading ohci1394..." So
I
added nofirewire to the boot prompt and it installed from there. I also
added
boot=nofirewire to the grub kernel because it would hang while booting after
installation.
However, when I boot linux from grub, it hangs on checking for new hardware.
I
had to force it to skip this step with the interactive setup just so that I
could get it to boot. But this is of course a huge problem because now it
has
no mount points for the cdrom or floppy drive. I tried the mount -t iso9660
/... blah but that did not work at all. I tried using the hardware browser,
but that just hangs.
Please help! I really need to get this up and running asap.
I'm using an hp pavilion ze5300 laptop.
Thank you.
Sabrina
p.s. I've sent this before, but I don't think it got through.
