new ES installation won't boot

I tried to post an earlier article when I wasn't subscribed to the list
but it never got past the moderator... I am also not having much luck
with redhat support.

What's happened so far:

I tried an earlier post to this list that never got through.

The redhat web pages won't accept the product ID for ES premium support
edition. The web page lists ES standard and Basic support same with
phone mail. I call and left a message with phone support (since I
sat on hold for a while), but no one has called back yet.

I check the HCL, as recomended, but RedHat 7.2 Enterprise comes up with
an empty HCL. and AS is for the Itanium 2 platform (presumably HP). No
selection for WS or ES releases.

My problem... We bought the ES version to try a product that would have
a longer install lifetime (3 years instead of about 1 year) to test
various database solutions. I am trying to install it on a Dell 1600SC
with an ATI-Rage XL card, and a PERC3/SC card. This appears to be
very similiar to the 1500SC that is on the RedHat 7.2 HCL. It installed
fine, I did the X server test during installation and the display came
up fine. During reboot it goes through some IP configuration and hangs
after it prints:

RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0.

The system came from Dell with RedHat 8 installed and running fine
except the X server would not start automatically at boot, but started
up fine by manually. I hadn't looked into the problem with the RedHat
8 installation before installing ES.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is there an HCL for RedHat ES?

                        Thanks,
