Hi Mark.

I have been using Ximian's Evolution for quite some time, having moved 
its data directory from my home area to another filesystem and also 
using the same data from two different Linux distributions (Red Hat 8.0 
and Mandrake 8.2) without any problem.

I also share extensive data "masses" and applications between the two 
distros without any problem (so far...), like SAPDB RDBMS, etc.

It puzzles me why this setup does not work in your case...
