Actually I had this problem and the fastest way for me was to goto /etc
and do a vi inittab and change the following line
id:5:initdefault:

And change the 5 to a 3 and then reboot
Login as root and then run the driver from the directory I downloaded it into.
I had thekernel files installed and it installed fine
