Re: Installation won't accept second CDROM

Greetings,

I'm installing RH 9.0 from the 3 disk CD's. Standard partition on
scsi drive. Boot from cdrom and graphic installation proceeds
fine thru first cdrom. Then it asks me for second cdrom after
first is ejected. It then promptly rejects the second cd stating it
is the wrong cd. I'm not using the src cds but the installation cd,
but even tried the src cd and it didn't work either.

The cdrom is master on the first ide. I've tried it as slave and
also tried it on the second ide channel (master and slave)
with same results.

I then did a "minimal" installation from the first cd and am
able to mount the second cd and copy all the files and access
it just fine. (it may "say" it is the second cd but may not be??)
but by mounting it i can access and copy files easily.

Is there a workaround for this or does anyone know what is
going on? This is my first installation of RH. I've been using
freebsd since v2.0.

Adding a couple of things:

These cd's were purchased, not downloaded.

Toshiba 12X cdrom

boot: linux mediacheck passed on all the disks

boot: hda=nodma didn't help

tweaking pio in the bios didn't change it either.

bout time to try a different cdrom! unless someone has a different idea
