Install from hell....

I am going to school next year as a Comp Sci major so I thought should learn Linux. I have been programming in DOS protected mode for the past... 8 years

I have a 56k modem so I went to best buy and picked up RedHat 9.0
So I went to install it on my new computer* and it din't work... After the drives were listed it looked like it was listing IDE channels or somthing and hung... :(

No big deal I went to install it on my old computer** and everything went fine UNTILL the second disk was promted and I inserted it. Then it told me that was not the correct disk. So I kept trying for about 5 min, then i attemped every disk that camp with Redhat :(. Source and everything.

Please help, i don't like wasting my time and money, before now i had high hopes for open souce.
