Tell me more about "FEDORA"

Do I use this in lieu of RPMs?
Will there be insights to downloads?
For instance, if you Download package xyz-9.9-2.i386.rpm will it contain
a readme text file that will instruct you that you need additional
packages and under what conditions it is stable e.g. abc-9.7-1.i386.rpm,
glibcXX.lib

The Fedora Project does not explain itself properly!!
There are a lot of innuendos with nothing positive
It seems as if it is staying at arms length and nothing conclusive.
It says it may eventually make into Red Hat products!!
Well is it or isn't it? It has been more then a couple of months in
print let alone ? months behind closed doors?

What is Fedora Core? Is it the kernel? Will it be source or will one
need to compile it or what?

Can one get CD's in case we bungle the installation, after each release
which they say every six months. I've been hearing people's grips with
ISO CD # 2 when downloading (and that's too many already) yet there is
no reference to these problems nor solutions.

It seems that Red Hat wants to control yet not be itself responsible?
Will this create delays in releases and to Red Hat's advantage so that
they can distance themselves from Red Hat Linux and safeguard
ENTERPRISE. Seems that there may arise some conflict of interest and the
community will lose out again.

Where's the promotion, the fanfare and marketing hype for this new
feature that we are to use or be aware of? Not here, that's for sure!!

Will there be answers, confirmations and positive affirmations or are
will we be kept in the dark because Red Hat doesn't know what direction
it is taking. Obviously they would like to have their cake and eat it.

So let's start it with a Snippet from FEDORA -
http://fedora.redhat.com/

"""The Fedora Project is a Red-Hat-sponsored and community-supported
open source project. It is also a proving ground for new technology that
may eventually make its way into Red Hat products. It is not a supported
product of Red Hat, Inc.

The goal of The Fedora Project is to work with the Linux community to
build a complete, general purpose operating system exclusively from free
software. Development will be done in a public forum. The project will
produce time-based releases of Fedora Core about 2-3 times a year with a
public release schedule. The Red Hat engineering team will continue to
participate in the building of Fedora Core and will invite and encourage
more outside participation than was possible in Red Hat Linux. By using
this more open process, we hope to provide an operating system that uses
free software development practices and is more appealing to the open
source community.""

and their FAQ's http://fedora.redhat.com/about/faq/

What is Severn? Will it replace Red Hat Linux 9? A little intro would
help!!! First timers need some familiarity. Release Sequence Number???

Need some answers and affirmations, as there isn't any identified users
group for support.

Looking for something to grab a hold of with staying power rather then
transitions and another learning curve.

Comparisons between Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise
http://fedora.redhat.com/about/rhel.html

Remember we moved from Windows to Red Hat because of recent moves to
User Friendliness. That's what brought us here.

Here we go again,

Chris
