IIRC there was a bad batch of second disk CD's shipped with boxed
versions of RH 9. You might have received one of these disks in your
boxed set.

You might also try installing from a different cd-rom/cd-rw drive.

Looks like i received one of those packages. I spent a couple of hours trying different
cdroms and cdrom settings to no avail. I downloaded the iso image for disk 2 and it
went fine, till it got to disk 3 with the same failure. Downloading the disk 3 iso and it
it went fine.  bleh.
