ypserv does not have "-b" (query DNS) for version 2.5.x and up and "-b" not working for ypserv1.3.x

Folks,
It tried a few versions of ypserv on redhat8 but none works: it did not pass
external hostname(say www.ibm.com) to DNS when yp hosts file does not have
that entry.  I have my workstation's /etc/nsswitch.conf' hosts entry as
"hosts nis files"
.  And ypwhich shows my workstation is binding to redhat8 ypserver. Could
anyone shed a light on this?
