A few things:
* SRPMS is the source code, not the binaries. You need the 3 RPMs.
* If you burned the correct CD's, correctly, most likely you
don't need a bootdisk. In most cases it will boot from the
install CD's. May have to tweek BIOS to get it to look at the
CD drive forst though. No biggie.
* If you want to keep XP, plug that drive back in. Unlike WinDoZ,
Linux is not at all offended that you have another OS on your
system. The more the merrier! Plus, Linux will recogonize the
other OS and add them to your boot manager. (A good thing.)
Just be careful which install you use. One of them (server I think)
will wipe everything out. Custom or Desktop will not though.
(Read up. Not completely sure on this one.)
* No DOS commands required. When you get up and running, you
can learn some of the good Linux/Unix commands, but that's
down the road. No worries for now. Just get a clean install first.
NOW........I know you want a step-by-step from the list, and
someone may very well give it to you. But, there are great
docs on this. Check out:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/
and more specifically that will get you WELL on your
way, see:
http://www.redhat.com/download/howto_download.html
If you get stuck somewhere, let us know the specific problems.
A hint.
Before you burn all 3 CDs, you might want to burn just the first
one and try booting from it and run the "media test."
Might save you from have 3 more coasters.
Good luck.
