Re: missing video

Since you just installed, I would reinstall using the driver RH suggested.  It may be that the driver for another card works for you card in Linux.  Its worth a try and with Linux, it's never a good install until you've done it a few times...grin...plus it's good experience.

Subject: missing video

I have been itching to try linux so I downloaded red hat 9.  burned all three cd's and used those for the install.  the install went fine.  red hat detected my motherboard's video chip (intel 815), but I ignored it because I have an ATI Radeon 7000 (which according to the hardware list, it's supported).  The ATI card is PCI, so my BIOS is configured to use it instead of my motherboard's video.  As I said, the install went fine, I was able to see everything on my screen.  During the post install configuration, I set up my ATI card for the video (red hat picked the intel 815 instead, so I selected the Radeon 7000 from the list).  Everything else was fine, so I rebooted.  Red Hat started to boot fine, I was able to watch all those messages about what it was doing scrolling up my screen, and then my monitor went blank.  The LED next to my monitor's power switch started blinking, which signified to me that I was no longer getting a video signal.  I also have windows on this machine, so i booted into it to make sure that my monitor wasn't screwed up.  Everything worked fine.  What do I need to do to get red hat to let me see what's going on so that I can use it?
