Hi, sorry if this has been covered already, I'm new to this list.
I am installing RH9 on a Dell 500SC, and the install seems to go well at first. After choosing the language, keyboard layout and location of the install disk I'm told that the RH CD is not in the CD-ROM drive. Apparently the CD-ROM drive is being found, but the install program is not recognizing the media as being in the drive. I have tried booting with 'linux hdc=cdrom' as suggested in the docs. No joy. The drive is an IDE reader on the secondary channel, master. It should be considered device "C." The Dell 500SC is on the supported hardware platform.
You might try "linux noapmd" or "linux noapm" to see if that helps.
This disables any APM (advanced power management) stuff on the box and
may get the drive to work (it won't spin down).
Failing that, try unloading and reloading the media after selecting the
keyboard and mouse, but before you click "Continue".
