I did comment out those lines ...  Do I need to do a reboot for that to
take effect?  The messages scroll in the /var/log/messages file every 20
minutes or so...

FWIW, I was able to run the aumix-minimal command by hand for both post
and pre and it was successful with no errors...

I'd expect that. I'm stumped. Perhaps there's something in bugzilla about it. You might try a search there.
