I've been racking my head all week trying to get this new Xircom
XEM5600 Ethernet/Modem card to work on my Dell Latitude CSx. RedHat
runs like a dream...text-only mode since it's functioning as an
Apache 2.0.x server (and I hate having a GUI in Linux).
Has anyone been able to get it to work? Here is some relevant info:
the /etc/pcmcia/config file has this entry:
card "Xircom XEM5600 Ethernet/Modem"
version "Xircom", "*", "XEM5600"
bind "xirc2ps_cs", "serial_cs"
/etc/modeles.conf:
alias eth0 tulip
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
/var/log/boot.log displays this error:
network: Bringing up interface eth0: failed
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart:
Bringing up interface eth0: serial_cs device eth0 does not
seem to be present, delaying initialization
ifconfig eth0 displays this:
eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
cardctl status displays this:
Socket 0:
no card
Socket 1:
no card
running lsmod does not display "serial_cs" or "xirc2ps"
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Don
