Re: Soundcard detection

Hi, all. I've got a bit of a problem and I'm not sure what to do. I picked up an old Digital Prioris server off eBay for at home. Works fine with Red Hat 8, very happy with it. Thought I would add a sound card to it so I installed a SoundBlaster Pro 2. The add hardware segment of the boot process doesn't see it nor does the sound card detection. Is there any tools to detect hardware conflicts in Linux? I also have a DAC960 Raid controller ( I believe this is the built in one) and an Adaptec AC7880. It uses the built in S3 Trio video.

Anybody have any thoughts? This is a play with learning system so I'm willing to try most anything :)

Think SoundBlaster Pro isn't PCI or PnP ISA, but legacy ISA (I now affectionately call BaH ISA - Bugger all Happens) - you'll need to tell the OS its there. Try to use 'sndconfig' to set it up, but you'll need to know the card's settings (IRQ DMA etc.) when you run it and you should make sure the card is jumpered so these settings don't conflict with other hardware settings on the machine.
