serial port connection?

Hi list,

I am trying to connect to a PC running RedHat using a
null modem connected to the serial port of another PC
running windows. I am trying to connect using the
hyperterminal but I am not getting a response at any
baud rate. The two COM ports are ok since I can
connect to other PCs with them. What I could be doing
wrong?
