Of all the window managers, you will find that KDE and GNOME are most
like Windoze. Other, more different, window managers are AfterStep
(my choice), IceWM, BlackBox, FVWM(2), WindowMaker, twm, and several
others I have likely forgotten.

See http://linuxshop.ru/linuxbegin/win-lin-soft-en/
for a pretty comprehensive list of equivalent apps.

Gimp fills that bill.

There are plenty of replacements for MS apps, e.g.
MSWord -> OpenOffice, AbiWord, Applix, WordPerfect
WordPad -> Pico, Emacs, Vi <shudder>
Excel -> Gnumeric, OpenOffice
PowerPoint -> OpenOffice, Applix
IE -> Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, Galeon
Outlook -> Balsa, Pine, Elm, Mutt, VM (for Emacs), Mozilla or Netscape

So you want to make a clean break of it. Pretty gutsy call. You can
do it, but do your research.
Cheers,
