Everyone,
I am trying to install RH9 onto the following system:
ABIT IS7 with i865PE chipset
P4 2.4 GHZ
1GB ram
GeForce FX AGP 128MB video
WD 160 GB Jumbo drive dual boot with XP pro.
WD 40 GB slave
Installing from a Memorex DVD. I have verified the media.
I am installing the entire distribution. I keep getting errors like the following
where <X> is replaced by whichever package is failing on that particular install
attempt.
=========== ERROR ==============
There was an error installing <X>. This can indicate media
failure, lack of disk space, and/or hardware problems. This is a fatal
error and your install will be aborted. Please verify your media and try
your install again.
======= END ERROR ==============
I have looked at the install log and it points to an MD5 checksum
discrepancy and no other error indications.
I have tried the following things and none have worked yet:
-setup the 160GB drive to run in ATA66 versus ATA100.
-passed linux ide=nodma
-passed linux noapic
-forced LBA32
-passed linux text
Could this be because the DVD needs to be stepped down?
I see my symptoms out there on this mailing list with different hardware.
If anyone has fixed these symptoms let me know how.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
