I guess waiting will be my only option - however it seems odd that this was 
such a simple procedure back with RH7.3 - yet with both 8 and 9 you need a 
masters degree in rocket science/brain surgery/and a lifetime of linuc 
puter geekiness in order to upgrade Gnome ...

Oh well, time to set it up as the testing web server again.
