Re: NVIDIA Driver

Hi Asmir,

I also went through this just days ago and I probably have a similar Linux skill level as yourself.

You can get the GeForce driver by using the installer (the .run file) from this page:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-4496

And there are instructions in this readme:

ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-4496/README.txt

In short what you probably want to do is download the .run file, log on as root and edit the inittab as Tony and Bob have indicated, reboot to shut down X, run the installer and make the changes to the X config (see the readme for the details on this, it is very clear) undo the inittab changes then reboot. The readme (and it's PDF version) appear large but the instructions for the install are quite concise.

Kind regards,

Mike

in order to do this. I'm new to Linux so please be
specific.
Thans in advance.
