Hi,
I tried out what u all suggested and here are the
results.
#1. I pinged to my DNS server (This is sth that I has
tried before)
ping 202.54.6.35
and I could send and receive packets.
#2. I could connect to port 53 of my DNS server by
issuing the following command
telnet 202.54.6.35 53
#3. However the last debugging stratergy failed. I
could not use dig
to trace the path to the DNS server. On issuing
dig +trace 202.54.6.35
the command exited out by saying that the connection
could not be established because of time out.
I then tried hacking my firewall confoiguration files
(though it was an hack without much though in it). I
tried commenting out all lines
which had DENY in it. Things still didnt seem to work.
Any further suggestions / leads ?
Arvind
