Subject: How to install Redhat 9 ?

Hi,

May be you can follow my step:
Currently, your partitions are:
(1) NTFS
(2) FAT32
Now with partition magic,
Create New Partition, File System is 'Ext3', give about 6 Gb (or higher,
if you want to install "Everything" on RH9)
Create New Partition, File System 'SWAP', give about 2 x Ram Size
Or you can use menu "Install new Operating System" so Partition magic
will create two partition automatically
Apply.
Now, you'll get :
(1) NTFS
(2) FAT32
(3) EXT3
(3) SWAP
Then, boot from your RH9 CD, follow the instructions. RH9 will ask you if
you want to use automatically or manually Disk Druid to maintain
partitions. Choose manually using Disk Druid.
On Disk Druid, choose Partition which system is EXT3, put mount point to "
/ " (without quotes)
Follow the instructions, and enjoy your installations!!

If it's succesful, you'll get XP and RH9 in your PC.

IF you dont need XP any more, just delete your NTFS & FAT32 with disk
druid (on install process), and make EXT3 and SWAP. It has same way if you
do with Partition Magic.
I hope this would be helpful.

Hi All,

I'm new to Redhat and I would like to find out
which is the best way to install it. I had a Pentium 4
and my current OS is Win XP. My file system is NTFS
and I would like to know which file system that Redhat
used ?
How do I create a Linux file system ? Can I used
Partition Magic 8.0 ? I already partition my Hard Disk
and created a FAT32 file system. Can I convert it to
Linux file system ? Which is the best File system ? Is
it ext2 or ext3 or any other ? I want to make it dual
boot and can I used LILO for the Boot manager ? Can I
set my bios to boot from the Redhat partiton ?
All help r welcome.

Cheers,
Sword Raider
