It's the "Broadcom BCM4400 series ethernet controllers" as Mark wrote.

The advice you have given me I have yet to try out, but thank you very much for now. I am amazed by the help one gets in this "world"; a model for reality, really.

Another problem: I can't seem to find "insmod". My RH9 doesn't seem to 
know the command!
