RE: MySQL Socket trouble

RH 8 installed MySQL for me. Both server and client packages are
installed. 

rpm -q mysql mysql-server
mysql-3.23.54a-11
mysql-server-3.23.54a-11

The /var/lib/mysql directory is empty. (home directory for mysql user). 

>Did RH 8 install MySQL for you or did you download and install it your
self.
