Problems with RPMs

Hi,

I have installed RH 9.0 and I'm having problems with the rpm tool.
It gots hunged when I use it. For example if I make:

# rpm --version
RPM version 4.2

I works, but if I make:

# rpm -qa|grep imap

It hungs!

It happened before, but I don't know why it got repared itself (?).
But now I really need to use it and it doesn't works.

I tried with --initdb and --rebuilddb options, but didn't work.

Could somebody give me some hints about how to know whats happen and how to
solve it?
