Can anyone give me any hints about running redhat 9 networking inside
VMWare 4.0.2?
I've installed vmware tools into the guest OS redhat, and when I run
vmware-config it appears that the networking is enabled (but it is hard
to tell as the redhat checkboxes in KDE don't show an X when you tick
them - their lighting just changes - duh).
I've tried doing 'ifup eth0' in redhat and eth0 comse up, but it doesn't
network access, I can't ping my host machine (running win2000) or
anything. My networking config for win2000 shows I have two adapters,
VMnet1 and VMnet8, and they have strange static IP address -
192.168.43.1 and 192.168.52.1 - my network address is 192.168.1.*, so
the VMnet adapters have addresses that aren't on my home network! Is
this usual?
If anyone can point me to any useful howtos etc I'd be grateful.
alex
