Linux Network weirdness

Starting to look like a VMWare oddity?  I've got other VMWare machines
that are happy, so don't know why this one isn't.

But, after I found the code I had to add to ifcfg-eth0 to make it not
check for a cable connection, I changed my settings to dhcp, and low and
behold.  I couldn't get an address.

Btw - is my text coming across as 72 characters wide?
